When Risers Are Needed

Morgan’s Welding’s custom risers are manufactured to sit over existing inlets and manholes and are secured with bolting anchors. They’re required in any repaving project where the roadway height is increased.

Benefits

  • Improves Drainage & Prevents Roadway Damage: Manhole and inlet risers prevent dips in the roadway that can collect standing water over time and potentially cause deterioration in the roadway materials, whether asphalt or concrete.
  • Installation Ease: Morgan’s Welding’s risers are bolted on and can be easily removed for future resurfacing and repaving projects.
  • Reduces Project Costs: Risers eliminate the costs associated with rebuilding the existing inlet box, throat, and frame.
  • Increases Safety: Pedestrians and cyclists are kept safe because the manhole or inlet height increases with the roadway, eliminating hazardous lips.
  • Exact Fit: Every riser is customized to project requirements. That means the overlay thickness is exact, risers can be installed on non-standard structures, the bolt pattern matches the existing frame, the load class is chosen for the exposure, and different shapes, including sloped transitions and multi-grate assemblies, can be accommodated.
  • Corrosion-Resistance: Morgan’s Welding applies a bituminous coating to all manhole and inlet risers, custom or standard, to provide exceptional protection against moisture, deicing salt, and stormwater.
  • Compatible With Asphalt: The standard bituminous coatings are asphalt-based and create a tighter seal between casting and pavement to reduce water intrusion risks.
